Being a Dodgers fan, I am spoiled with the majestry that is Dodgers Stadium. My first trip to Petco Park in San Diego was brief but an eye opener! I enjoyed the "Sand Area" in the outfield complete with a sand sculpture or a glove and ball. I enjoyed the wide open area around the ballpark that allowed sunlight to come through and you can actually see the blue skies above.

Being a new ballpark to me, I arrived very early and toured the entire neighborhood and the ballpark. First of all, the park was within walking distance from my hotel and there was so much to see along the way. I enjoyed the waterfall outside the park and the various monuments like the "Mr. Padre" statue for Tony Gwynn.

When are the Dodgers gonna erect a statue for Vin Scully and Jackie Robinson?!?!?

I hope you enjoy these few select photos from my trip. I could have taken thousands of photos but there was a game going on!

Of course there are going to be Palm Trees infront of a baseball park in Southern California! Very green and very artsy. Nice smooth surfaces unlike the cracks of the Dodgers Stadium parking lots.

There is a "mini" field (to the left) and a hill perferct for a evening picnic. The stadium is surrounded by businesses and restaurants. It fits neatly into the community and the local shops have benefited!

When you're as beloved as Tony Gwynn, they make you BIG! I can only imagine how large Jackie Robinson's statue will be.

This is a sand sculpture created by a fan a few days before my trip. The rest of the area is available for fans to sit in, play in or just flat out put their feet in. It felt very find and not the kind of gravel you find at some beaches.

I really enjoyed seeing the sky as I walked around the park...and I do mean I walked AROUND the park. You can access every level from one entrance and the atmosphere seems a bit more relaxed and inviting. Not like the dark dingy feeling you get at Dodgers Stadium.

As it becomes dark, the skylines dissappear and your focus becomes the game. Petco park seems larger but it seats fewer fans. I was surprised how good my seats were considering I purchased them only a few days before my trip.

I really enjoyed seeing a new ballpark and experiencing the food, the fans of another Southern California team and a great game (the Dodgers won of course).
